Assassin’s Creed Jade – New details

A leaked video of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Jade showcased more game details. Most people haven’t heard about it because it was a part of the announcement during the AC showcase earlier this year. It is a title alongside developing projects named AC Mirage, Codename Hexe, and Codename Red.

Jade will has an Ancient China setting, but it will not continue the story from AC Chronicles: China. Instead, it will follow a different protagonist and will deviate from Ubisoft’s standard releases. Why? Assassin’s Creed Jade is the first series game dedicated solely to mobile gaming.

What We Know So Far

It’s easy to mistake Assassin’s Creed Jade as a game meant for consoles because of how advanced mobile phones are nowadays. The leaked gameplay showed a bit of combat, parkour, traversal, and other Assassin’s creed features we’ve come to expect. The biggest difference is the on-screen control prompts you see on a mobile phone.

It’s going to be compatible with a Bluetooth controller as most games of its caliber are. We don’t know any details about Jade’s pricing, but it looks to be a full-priced game released on mobile. However, making it free-to-play with a monetization element will not be out of the picture.

What’s New?

Chronicles only showed a small part of the Assassin’s Creed lore in China, and it would be great to have a game dedicated to exploring it further. One of the differences in Jade is that the main character is fully customizable. You’ll be able to change many physical details of your character, and the story will fit around it.

From there on, there isn’t much to go by aside from the video. It looks to be one of the games slated for 2023, though that also means they’re looking to launch it alongside AC Mirage.

Fans Can Hope

Fans hope that this new direction for Assassin’s Creed provides a look back into its successful roots. Many agree that some of the series’ high points were the story of Ezio Auditore. There’s also an argument for Black Flag being the best AC game out of them all. Recent titles are well-developed, but they pushed into mythology, which departed from past games’ realism.

With that said, the upcoming games are exciting. Codename Red will have a feudal Japan setting, a highly anticipated setting fans have been asking about. There are no details for Hexe or Mirage yet, so we’ll likely find out more soon. Odyssey, Valhalla, and Origins have all been good, but many believe they lack the magic that made the franchise stand out.

In the meantime, we seem to be enjoying a resurgence of remakes and remasters. You can easily spend lots of time delving into the next-gen edition of Witcher 3. There are also upcoming remakes for Silent Hill 2 and Dead Space. Gaming looks great for 2023, and we’re here to enjoy things as things truly transition to the next generation.
