For over 46 years, Saturday Night Live (SNL) has been part of American television every Saturday night. The show has given hundreds of comedy skits and performances by different cast members throughout the years. With its continuous stint for a long time, it has already received various accolades and hundreds of nominations.
SNL now has 81 awards from the Television Academy (Emmy Awards). Which includes Outstanding Variety Sketch Series, Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series, and more. In addition, the show currently has several nominations for this year’s Emmy Awards.
This late-night show is also about to welcome its 48th season. The premiere date hasn’t come out yet but it is expected to be this October. As the 47th season began on October 2 last year. Moreover, now that we are heading into a new season.

The cast members would not be the same as in the previous season. As there are cast members who are not returning anymore. So let’s find out the remaining cast members and the ones departing.

Departing cast members
- According to several reports, the latest cast members to leave the show are Melissa VillaseƱor, Alex Moffat, and Aristotle Athari. The exact reason behind their departures hasn’t been announced publicly.
- However, speculations are saying that it could be related to the early departures this year. AsĀ Pete Davidson, Kyle Mooney, Kate McKinnon, and Aidy Bryant have also left during their off-season this year too.
- Both Moffat and VillaseƱor joined the show in 2016. While Athari became a part of the show last year. Moreover, the avid viewers of SNL are certainly going to miss these cast members in the next season.
The remaining cast members
There is no official lineup yet for the 48th season. However, the remaining main cast members are Michael Che, Mikey Day, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Colin Jost, Ego Nwodim, Chris Redd, Cecily Strong, Kenan Thompson, and Bowen Yang.
- All the fans can do is assume that these remaining cast are going to return to the show. Moreover, the hosts and musical guests in the next season are also not yet revealed.
- However, fans could expect more from previous hosts and musical guests who appeared. Since celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Paul Rudd, Post Malone, Lizzo, Billie Eilish, and more made their respective appearance last season.
