Why 55 page long One-Shot Minato Manga’s title may refer to a Rasengan?

There’s a specific glitter to that which is old. Minato Namikaze is one such character that has retained his glitter throughout the decaying time of the Anime industry. He is relevant in this article primarily due to the nature of a worldwide poll held during Naruto’s 20th anniversary. Today, we have a full-fledged One-Shot manga dedicated to Minato Namikaze, titled NARUTO Gaiden: Uzu no Naka no Tsumujikaze.

The new Minato One-shot manga is all scheduled for a July 18 release in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine’s #33 issue, which will also mark Shonen Jump’s 55th anniversary.

If you find yourself hurdled and confused at the information introduced to you above, wait up and let me explain. The previous year marked what was Naruto’s 20th anniversary. We have some articles filled just on this topic, which you may visit to brush your memory.

From down below, not only will we explain to you properly what transpired throughout the Naruto 20th anniversary celebration, but also the technicalities behind what One-shot manga and such terms imply.

What was Narutop99 and why is it important for One Shot Minato Manga, NARUTO Gaiden: Uzu no Naka no Tsumujikaze

For the occasion of the Naruto 20th Anniversary, the team behind Naruto and the creator himself, Kishimoto, opened a new website along with a range of other features. The primest of them all was the worldwide popularity poll, named Narutop99. The poll was a chance at finding what the world fans had collectively decided to be their carpe diem of all Naruto characters.

  • And although the battle was something to behold, with Sakura and Sasori almost outplaying the likes of Itachi every now and then, the final helm was still taken by Minato Namikaze.
  • Truth be told, it was not unexpected, but not completely expected per se as well. People may have vouched for more for other characters like Madara and Itachi, or at least people thought others would.
  • But a poll is a poll, and assuming Kishimoto did not rigg the entire thing (we are hoping he didn’t), it is viable to say that Narutop99 stood its purpose.

What does Naruto Gaiden: Uzu No Naka no Tsumujikaze mean and what is the significance of 55 pages?

After the winner was declared, we finally concurred on Minato Namikaze. Now as per the original promise, Kishimoto was to release a one-shot manga for the fans which would be based on the character which won the poll.

Naturally with Minato taking the helm, the manga is now dedicated to him and scheduled for a release date of July 18th. Do note that issue #33 of Weekly Shonen Jump will also mark its 55th anniversary. To accommodate the same, the One-shot Naruto Manga will be actually 55 pages long.

The meaning of this title may actually hint at Minato’s Rasengan and here’s why

  • NARUTO Gaiden: Uzu no Naka no Tsumujikaze also translates to Naruto Gaiden Whirlwind in the Vortex. The whirlwind in the vortex refers, very enigmatically I would say, to the nature of the Yellow Flash of the leaf, Minato Namikaze.
  • It also seems to significantly indicate the Rasengan, which is an actual whirlwind (wind flow in circulator motion) within a vortex (shaped).  The recent Naruto Manga (in plural) after the end of the main series have been named Gaiden, which roughly translates to a side story.

What’s a one-shot, by the way?

What is a one-shot manga exactly you wonder? one-shots are actually like short stories of the novel world. They are often the starting point of any major series. Most, for example, Attack on Titan, Naruto, and even One Piece began as a one-shot manga first which was pitched to publishers. Upon further approvals, the manga goes through a selection process, and only those one-shots that make the cut are selected for a full-serialization.

Other times that you may find a one-shot manga is when an already popular series (Like Naruto itself) needs some brushing of memory and nostalgia (as in the case of this One Shot Minato Manga).
