In the first ODI, Mithali Raj won the toss and India opted to bowl first. Openers Suzie Batest and Maddy Green built a 54-run stand for the first wicket. Bates scored 106, her 11th women’s ODI century.
She was ably supported by Amy Satterthwaite (63) and Amelia Kerr (33) as New Zealand put up 275 on board. India was required to score 275 to win the match. However, India was dismissed for just 213. After this crushing defeat, India was planning to make a comeback in the 2nd ODI.
The 2nd ODI took place at John Davies Oval, Queenstown on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.
India won the toss and elected to bat first. the Indian women’s team, batting first against New Zealand in the 2nd ODI on Tuesday, scored 270/6. Â The Newcomer Sabbhineni Meghana missed her maiden ODI half-century by one run. Mithali Raj and Richa Ghosh then came together to revive the innings with a 108-run partnership. This was India’s highest score vs NZ in women’s ODIs.
New Zealand didn’t start off their inning on a good note.
- The first wicket fell in the 5th over. Then suddenly two wickets fell in quick succession. India was back in-game. But Amelia Kerr made India disappointed.
- She scored a fabulous ton and remains unbeaten till the match was finished. Along with her Maddy Green also scored a fantastic 52. At last New Zealand won the match by 3 wickets. Â
- Now the next match will be a do-or-die match for the Indians. If they lose the next ODI then New Zealand will win the five-match series. So India will try to give their best to win the game.
