The 2023 NCAA March Madness is now left with 8 teams looking to advance to the final four and eventually winning it all. For the first time, no first-seed team has made it to the elite eight this year. 8 teams, and 4 regions, but only 1 will emerge as the true champion of the 2023 NCAA tournament. Let’s take a look at each of the matchup’s odds and find out who has the higher chance of advancing in the competition.
Note: all odds are based on moneyline bets from various betting websites and expert opinions
East: Kansas State Wildcats (3) VS Florida Atlantic Owls (9)
Florida may be a low-seed team with pretty good role players, but the Wildcats are on another level. Although both teams are statistically better than what their rankings have shown, Kansas is heavily favored to win against Florida Atlantic. For one, Markquis Nowell has been on a tear with his ridiculous highlights and record-breaking performance. The team’s leading scorer, Keyontae Johnson is also on a redemption year after his on-court collapse back in 2020.

West: Gonzaga Bulldogs (3) VS Connecticut Huskies (4)
Can the Drew Timme-led Bulldogs defeat the strong Uconn Huskies in the elite eight? Well, Gonzaga is one of the best offensive teams in the league which could give Connecticut a run for its money. Even though Uconn’s last three games were all blowouts, those teams weren’t on the same level as Gonzaga or Xavier (who went 2-0 against Uconn in the regular season). Needless to say, the key to Uconn’s win is their leading scorer and rebounded, Adama Sanogo, who will be guarding the opposing team’s top dog, Drew Timme.

South: San Diego State Aztecs (5) VS Creighton Bluejays (6)
Although the Aztecs are the best team in Mountain West, they do not have a standout player or a prospect. On the contrary, the Bluejays, who advanced to the Elite 8 for the first time in their school’s history, have five players who average double digits. Creighton is also top 22 in offensive efficiency and top 14 in defensive efficiency. Despite that, San Diego is also known to show up in big games. Just like how they took down first-seed Alabama in the Sweet 16, it does not mean they’re not going to replicate that performance against the Bluejays.

Midwest: Texas Longhorns (2) VS Miami Hurricanes (5)
For the first time since 2008, the Texas Longhorns reaches the Elite Eight once again. They will be facing off against one of the top-scoring teams in the NCAA, the Miami Hurricanes. After an easy win against the Xavier Musketeers earlier today, Marcus Carr will have to translate his inner beast on Sunday against Miami. Despite the Hurricanes being an offensive threat, the Longhorns are a much more experienced and capable team. Although this could go either way, it’s safe to say that the odds are on the Longhorns’ side.
