10 most powerful survivors of the Culling Game in Jujutsu Kaisen

Survivors of the Culling Game

The Culling Game is a deadly tournament in Jujutsu Kaisen where Jujutsu Sorcerers are pitted against each other to fight for their survival. It was started by Kenjaku just after the Shibuya incident with his goal to evolve humanity. Players battle it out in a lethal battle royale where they have to follow some strict rules and fight across 10 barrier colonies that form a line down Japan.

Throughout the Culling Game, we come across several powerful characters who consist of sorcerers from the past, students of Jujutsu High, and civilians who were turned into modern-day sorcerers by Kenjaku. In this article, we will be going through the survivors till now.

1) Hiromi Higuruma

The first Culling Game player we will be going over is Hiromi Higuruma. He was first introduced in Chapter 158 of the manga series. His backstory shows that he was originally a public defense lawyer who took on nearly impossible cases in order to protect the wrongfully accused people. Higuruma is a modern-day jujutsu sorcerer who got his brain modified by jujutsu via Idle Transfiguration.

During his fight with Yuji Itadori, we see that he is able to perform domain expansion on him. Higuruma can call upon a large Shikigami named Judgeman who floats behind him. This technique does not have any sure kill factor, instead, the people inside have to follow a set of rules.

The Judgeman will produce some accusation in answer to which the defendant can give confession, denial, or silence. Based on statements and facts, the verdict is passed. If the defendant is found guilty then they won’t be allowed to use their cursed technique or cursed energy. If not guilty, they are allowed two retrials. In some cases, the death penalty can also be passed, and if it happens, Higuruma gains the executioner sword that kills his opponent in one hit.

2) Kinji Hakari

Kinji Hakari is a sorcerer who has earned early recognition and praise from the likes of Satoru Gojo, the strongest jujutsu sorcerer in the series. What sets Hakari apart is his deadly domain expansion, Idle Death Gamble. This unique ability makes him one of the most dangerous and powerful survivors of the Culling Game in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Hakari’s domain expansion can be simply explained as a domain based on probability. It is based on casinos and slot machines and just like casinos, the house always wins. He can get a huge amount of boost to land on a jackpot. Whenever he lands on a jackpot, he is granted an unlimited amount of cursed energy and basically becomes invincible for about 4 minutes and 11 seconds.

Landing on a jackpot also means that he will be having increased chances of landing on a jackpot the next time. As one of Jujutsu High’s students, Hakari possesses extraordinary levels of cursed energy. It allows him to deliver devastating blows on his targets, producing blunt attacks with a sharp cutting effect.

3) Yuta Okkutso

Yuta Okkotsu, also known as the cursed child, is undoubtedly one of the most powerful jujutsu sorcerers at Jujutsu High, second only to Satoru Gojo. After the Shibuya incident, Yuta returned to Tokyo from his overseas training with Miguel, but he wasn’t alone – he was accompanied by a new Rika. Since his return, Yuta has undergone significant personal growth, but it hasn’t been without its challenges. At times, he has struggled to find his way in the darkness that surrounds him.

During the Culling Game, Yuta killed at least seven sorcerers before cutting down Dhruv Lakdawalla. Yuta finished off Kurourushi, the special grade curse when it threatened a group of civilians. When Yuta came across Ryu Ishigori and Takako Uro, he tried to reason with them. When it didn’t help, he was forced to fight them and it resulted in both Ryu and Uro’s defeat.

Yuta is one of the four special-grade sorcerers recognized by Jujutsu High. Continuing his training in Jujutsu High, he continued to grow stronger and built a solid foundation as a sorcerer.

Yuta is an expert weapon specialist and wields a katana as a weapon of choice. Yuta possesses an immense amount of cursed energy and he has dramatically improved his control over it. Yuta’s every attack carries enough destructive power to end a fight and his defensive abilities are so dense that it can block most of the incoming damage.

4) Megumi Fushigoro

Megumi Fushigoro, a descendant of the Zenin family, is a Grade 2 sorcerer in Jujutsu High. He discovered that his sister Tsumiki has been ensnared in the Culling Game.

When Megumi was cornered by Reggi Star and Iori Hazenoki, he kept fighting them despite getting worn down by Hazenoki’s explosions. Megumi found his second wind when he got the news that his sister’s life is secured partially and he went at Reggi and Hazenoki using his full power. Fumihiko Takaba came to his help a little later when he noticed Megumi being cornered by the two.

Later Sukuna took control over Megumi’s body and as a result, became the strongest out of all the characters in the Culling Game. Sukuna taking over Megumi granted him a large number of weapons and he became strong enough to come at par with Satoru Gojo.

5) Takako Uro

Takako Uro is a jujutsu sorcerer from a thousand years ago, who was incarnated by Kenjaku for the Culling Game. In her previous life, she was the captain of the Sun, Moon, and Stars Squad, a group of assassins affiliated with the Toh.

Takako was filled with fury when Yuta attempted to reason with her about her mindless killing of jujutsu sorcerers. She wields a formidable sky manipulation technique, which grants her the power to control the very air around her. By distorting the surrounding atmosphere, Takako can deliver devastating blows that slip past her opponents’ defenses, leaving destruction in their wake.

But Takako is more than just a powerful sorceress. She is also a skilled fighter, equally at home in close combat as she is at manipulating the skies. Her opportunistic nature means that she will seize any advantage she can get, particularly when her opponent is at their most vulnerable.

And if that wasn’t enough, Takako is also capable of producing a domain expansion, although the specifics of her innate domain remain shrouded in mystery.

6) Fumihiko Takaba

Fumihiko Takaba is a failing comedian who was one of the few people who got turned into a sorcerer by Kenjaku. He saw that Megumi was struggling in a fight with Reggi Star and Iori Hazenoki, so he fought by the latter’s side to help him.

Fumihiko has not killed anyone in the Culling Game and his score is zero. Although not able to kill anyone doesn’t reflect on how strong his powers are. Fumihiko may not seem like a fighter but he is an expert in hand-to-hand combat. His skills are recognized by both Megumi and Reggi, and the former once also stated that he is lucky that Fumihiko is not his opponent.

Fumihiko has a great amount of cursed energy and it increases when he is about to entertain someone or the audience. He has an innate technique that works when he thinks that something will be funny then it instantly becomes a reality. His technique has great potential but he seems to not have a clue about his own power. It is due to this technique that he was able to survive till now.

7) Angel

Angel (Hana Kurusu)

Angel, an ancient Heian-era sorcerer, has been reincarnated into the body of Hana Kurusu, a young sorceress participating in the Culling Game. Hana and Angel share a unique bond, much like Yuji and Sukuna, but with one key difference – Sukuna seeks to take over Yuji’s body, while Angel and Hana work together symbiotically.

Thanks to Angel’s influence, Hana is able to levitate herself and wield Angel’s innate ability to nullify cursed techniques such as barriers and seals. She even played a crucial role in nullifying the Prison Realm and helping Gojo escape. Additionally, Angel has revealed that she has the power to revert humans who have fused with cursed objects, but it would result in Hana’s death.

Despite the danger, Hana remains one of the strongest survivors in the Culling Game thus far. And with Angel now incarnated in her body, their shared goal is to take down Sukuna once and for all.

8) Hajime Kashimo

Hajime Kashimo is another jujutsu sorcerer from 400 years who is currently inhabiting the body of someone that Kenjaku prepared as a vessel. Hajime is one of the players participating in the Culling Game and is searching for Sukuna to battle with.

Hajime encountered Panda first and was easily bored with him as he overpowered his Gorilla Mode. Even when Panda was in his Triceratops mode, Hajime overcame him by using the electrified cursed energy that struck him like a bolt of lightning. Hajime had to use his full power only when he encountered Hakari, but he was ultimately defeated by the Jujutsu High student.

Hakari is a master of hand-to-hand combat, and even when he has infinite cursed energy Hajime was able to keep up with him. He also possesses great tactical intellect and is clever in making decisions. Hajime has immense reserves of cursed energy and it has the properties of electric current, which puts his body in a constant state of electrification. This makes his attacks almost impossible to defend against as he shocks his targets.

Hajime is able to use a lightning strike technique that renders a guaranteed hit on its target without the need for domain expansion.

9) Suguru Geto

Suguro Geto was one of the four special-grade sorcerers of his time. However, his immense power came with a dark side, and he was known as the most dangerous curse user due to the threat he posed to humanity.

Suguru is famous for being able to manipulate thousands of curses at the same time and he has high reserves of cursed energy. He also possesses the ability of cursed energy manipulation which allows him to control cursed spirits. He is also able to absorb other sorcerers’ curses as long as the master is killed.

Suguru uses a cursed spirit manipulation called Maximum Uzumaki, where a large number of cursed spirits are collected and compiled into one powerful attack. He can put a barrier that can be cast over a vast area hiding everything inside from the outer world. Kenjaku inhabiting Suguru’s body has also made another addition to the set of rules in the Culling Game, stating that it will only end when all the players are dead except for Suguru Geto and Megumi Fushiguro.

10) Yuji Itadori

Yuji Itadori

Yuji Itadori holds the same position as Yuta Okkotsu and Kinji Hakari in Jujutsu High as placed by Satoru Gojo. Satoru Gojo believes that these three are potential students who will surpass his strength.

Yuji possesses incredible physical abilities, which he seamlessly combines with his mastery of cursed energy. Remarkably, he’s even able to contain the dreaded Sukuna within his body without any negative repercussions. A skilled hand-to-hand combatant and martial artist, Yuji also boasts an impressive reserve of cursed energy thanks to Sukuna’s presence.

Utilizing two potent techniques known as the Divergent Fist and Black Flash, Yuji can exorcise cursed spirits with ease. But his strength and courage aren’t solely driven by his own desires – he’s also a loyal friend. When Megumi beseeches him to help save Tsumiki’s life, Yuji selflessly joins forces with him and sets out to find the elusive Kinji Hakari.

Conclusion

Yuji and Sukuna battle

Satoru Gojo and Maki Zenin are not mentioned on this list because of Maki’s incapability to use any cursed technique and Satoru Gojo was imprisoned in the prison realm, which made it impossible for him to interfere.

Overall these were some of the most powerful survivors of the Culling Games till now. With Gojo being out of the prison realm, we might be able to witness the most anticipated battle between the two strongest characters, Gojo and Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen.
