The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has embraced his internet alter ego, Dark Brandon, and using it in his new campaign for the 2024 elections. Biden supporters were surprised to see Dark Brandon make an appearance on the politician’s official webpage.
On Tuesday, users who visited the website were greeted with a 404 error page that featured an image of Dark Brandon with glowing red laser eyes. The website had a message for its visitors that read:
“404, You’re lost, Jack. Let’s get you back on rails.”
Biden also referred to the character in his recent speech at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, wearing a pair of dark sunglasses as he exclaimed :
“I’m going to be fine with your jokes, but I’m not sure about Dark Brandon”
The move was treated with applause by the listeners. While the character is loved by Democrats, it can be confusing for people unfamiliar with American politics. In this article, we will be looking at the meme’s history.

Along with using the meme in his campaign, Joe Biden is also selling merchandise featuring Dark Brandon. The politician’s website is selling T-shirts with laser-eyed images of Biden, claiming that they’re best worn while “vanquishing Malarkey.”

Who knew that a term created to mock the US president would become a part of his 2024 campaign.
According to Vox, the term ‘Brandon’ originated in October 2021 at the Talladega racetrack in NASCAR. Reports indicate that the crowd began chanting “f**k you, Biden” during Brandon Brown’s interview.
Brown was being interviewed after winning the race, which was also his first career win. The interviewer, Kelli Stavast, misheard the chant and translated it to “Let’s go, Brandon,” which became an instant hit among Republicans.
“Let’s go, Brandon,” became a code word for “f**k you, Biden,” and started gaining popularity on social media. Despite attempts by Biden supporters to drown out the trend with “Thank You, Brandon” memes, the movement continued to grow.
Only after the invention of “Dark MAGA” memes was Dark Brandon created. MAGA, which stands for “Make America Great Again,” is a slogan by former US President, Donald Trump. Some of Trump’s supporters started posting Dark MAGA memes that depicted the politician in a robust and authoritarian-like version looking to defeat his enemies.
The Dark MAGA memes gave rise to “Dark Brandon” memes that depicted Biden in a similar avatar. These memes showed Biden in dark hero images, such as Batman, and began to flood the internet. The image is since been used by Democrats to promote Biden on social media.
As Biden’s campaign gains momentum, it’s likely that we’ll see more of Dark Brandon in the coming months. With his growing popularity among netizens, the use of the alter ego in the 2024 elections could become a significant part of Biden’s strategy.
