Marco Polo is a deft marksman who unleashes massive damage from a distance and is mobile enough to get past any challenging situation. He is played in the “farm lane” as marksmen generally require higher gold and the terrain in the farm lane being relatively safe provides a better opportunity for leveling up. Let’s look at everything there is to know about Honor of King’s marksman, Marco Polo, including her abilities, builds, synergies, and counters.
Marco Polo Ability Breakdown
Passive Skill: Chain Reaction
Every time Marco Polo deals damage with his basic attacks or skills, he applies 1 stack of Destruction. On reaching 10 stacks, they are converted into Destroyed defense and Marco Polo’s basic attacks and skills do true damage to such enemies. This damage can be a critical hit. Marco Polo’s passive makes it one of the strongest Marksman in the game with the ability to take down a heavy frontline with ease.
-
Skill 1: Resplendent Revolver
- Marco Polo gains 10% movement speed and fires continuously in the target direction, where the number of bullets fired is affected by attack speed bonuses, and each bullet that hits deal damage to the enemy and recovers 10 energy for Marco Polo.
- Understanding the mechanic of this ability is crucial as this will help you dish out massive damage, maintain your distance, and help you keep your energy up. This ability will also help you harass your enemy laner in the early laning phase.
- Resplendent Revolver applies all on-hit effects and stacks Destruction. It can be a powerful tool against tanks.
-
Skill 2: Roaming Gun
- Marco Polo dashes in the target direction, and if enemy heroes are near, he gains 15% movement speed and deals 20% extra damage.
- This ability needs to be used very carefully as it can come in handy in case you are getting ganked and if this ability is on cooldown you might find yourself in a hard situation. Also, you can aggressively use this ability to chase down low-mobility targets or dodge enemy skill shots or crowd control while trying to engage them.
- A roaming Gun is one of the most important tools of Marco Polo’s kit as this move can be used in both an aggressive and defensive manner. Make sure you save this ability for the right time.
-
Skill 3: Fevered Barrage
- Marco Polo shifts in the target direction, then moves slowly in the same direction while firing barrages at the enemy for 3 secs and the number of bullets fired is affected by attack speed bonuses.
- This ability stops if there is any hindrance by the enemies and hence it needs to be used very wisely after enemies have used their crowd-control abilities so that you can channel the entire ability and make the most out of it.
- Fevered barrage can be paired with common skills such as Flash and Purify. Flash can help you redirect the direction of the ability whereas Purify will nullify any hindrance and help you channel the ability for a longer duration.

Common Skills:
Marco Polo can use different common skills depending on the enemy draft but these two are the most favorable:
- Flash: Marksmen are generally more vulnerable hence flash can come in handy in tough situations. In addition, it can also help you redirect or close the gap on your ultimate.
- Purify: Since any hindrance can cancel out your Skill 3, Purify can help you ignore those effects.
Both of the common skills depend on your playstyle and both of them work great.

Strengths
- Marco Polo is relatively more mobile than other marksmen, therefore harder to gank.
- Marco Polo doesn’t have any early laning phase counter and can harass enemy marksmen from a distance.
- He is good against heavily armored warriors with low mobility because of his passive.
- Marco Polo should be the go-to pick if you see your enemy drafting a high HP and low crowd-control composition.
Weakness
- Unlike other marksmen, Marco Polo doesn’t have a lot of burst damage in the late game.
- Since you rely on your passive, you need to make sure to hit your abilities and accuracy of the ultimate. All this makes Marco Polo a bit harder to use compared to other marksmen.
- Marco Polo is weak against heroes with crowd control or heavy bursts as they won’t let him stack his passive.
