The latest season of Fortnite has brought some ancient ruins to the island, and with them, some tricky puzzles to solve. One of the more confusing riddles you’ll come across tells you to “Find Flames” and “Match Flames.” It’s not immediately clear what you need to do, but solving this puzzle is the key to unlocking some sweet treasure vaults. Don’t worry, we are here to help you through it. This step-by-step guide will help you find and solve the match flames puzzle in Fortnite. So without any further due, let us dive right into it.

Locating the Hidden Temples
There are two jungle temple locations where you’ll get the “Find Flames” prompt. The first is the Hidden Temple, found northwest of Creeky Compound amidst the cliffs.
The second is the Southern Temple, located southeast of Rumble Ruins on the edge of the jungle biome. Both temples have sealed doors and treasure vaults hidden behind flames that need to be matched in order to gain entry.
Solving the Hidden Temple Puzzle
- When you first approach the Hidden Temple, you’ll need to “give” the initial door a Rare or better quality item to open it. This will be consumed, so don’t offer anything too precious!
- Once inside, walk forward and drop down to the lower level beside the wooden plank. Here you’ll find some chests to loot as well as four lit braziers in the room. Be sure to take careful note of which braziers are burning and which are extinguished.
- After grabbing the chest loot, climb back up to the main entrance. You’ll see another sealed door, and this one wants a Legendary or higher rarity item. Sacrifice something suitably epic to proceed.
- In the next room, you’ll find four unlit braziers. This is where the matching comes in. Light and extinguish the braziers here to mimic the pattern you observed downstairs. Get all four braziers synced up, and the final door will open to reveal the treasure vault.
Cracking the Southern Temple Puzzle
- The process is similar at the Southern Temple. You’ll again need to “give” the initial door an Epic or higher rarity item to get inside.
- In the next room, you’ll see five braziers along with a door telling you to “Find Flames” and “Match Flames.” To solve this, you need to head upstairs to the temple – there you’ll find five more corresponding braziers. Memorize their pattern in terms of which are lit and unlit.
- Return to the downstairs room and light or extinguish the braziers there to match the pattern you observed on the floor above. When all five braziers match, the door will open to lead you closer to the treasure.
One Final Test
But wait, there’s one more obstacle at the Southern Temple! After matching the braziers, you’ll come to one last locked door. This one instructs you to “seek statue” and points to two large effigies on either side.
You’ll need to closely interact with the correct statue to finally gain access to the treasure vault. Choose poorly, and you’ll just get teleported outside to try again.
